‼️ But here's what the trends won't tell you:
✅ I don't support them universally.
✅ And that's not me being difficult. That's me being a Correctional Exercise Specialist.

➡️ Let me explain why.
➡️ Most of us have imbalances. Scoliosis. Old injuries. A knee we subconsciously favor. More muscle on one side than the other.
➡️ When you put a weighted vest on an imbalance, you're not fixing it - you're reinforcing it. You're adding pressure to a pattern that's already compromised.

‼️ That's how injuries happen.

⁉️ Now, if you're perfectly symmetrical with zero injury history? A weighted vest can be a fine way to add intensity to a walk or incline session.

‼️ But let's be very clear about what it WON'T do:
🚫 Build your bones.

➡️ The research is clear. You need three to four times your body weight to create enough impact for bone building. A 15 or 20-pound vest? Marginally effective at best.

⁉️ So how do you ACTUALLY build bone?
✅ Lift weights.

Your grip isn’t just about being able to hold heavier weight - it’s a measure of your overall strength and vitality.

🚫 Don’t be so quick to always grab grips or gloves. In many lifts, your grip fails before your back or legs - and that’s OK. In fact, that’s a good thing. It tells you exactly where your body needs progressive strength and resilience work.

🔬 Research shows that grip strength is linked to major long-term health outcomes:
➡️ In large population studies, higher hand-grip strength is associated with lower risk of all-cause mortality, including cardiovascular disease and cancer, even after adjusting for other risk factors.
➡️ Every decrease in grip strength was tied to a higher risk of dying from any cause and from specific diseases in middle-aged adults.
➡️ Another study found that lower grip strength correlates with accelerated biological aging and higher mortality risk in older adults.

Someone said to me the other day that they admired my confidence. I’ve never thought of myself that way. Truth is, your mission has to be bigger than your nerves.

Everyone has a day 1. No one starts good at anything.

I thought about the word confidence. I think of myself as stubborn and committed over confident. Also, ask yourself. What are your truly fearful of?

Judgement? Ok. Judge me. That’s on you. Not me.

Injury? Start slow. Hire someone to help. I did. It’s a cheat code.

Failing? If you don’t get started, you’re already living out worse case scenario.

Someone said to me the other day that they admired my confidence. I’ve never thought of myself that way. Truth is, your mission has to be bigger than your nerves.

📌 She came to me uncomfortable. Pants tight. Mood low. Feeling stuck.

👉 And before I could even respond, she said:
"I know you're gonna tell me I should love myself anyway."

‼️ I stopped her right there.
Actually? No. That's not how I think.

➡️ Here's my controversial take on body positivity:
✅ It is NOT about giving up and embracing a version of yourself that feels wrong.
✅ It is NOT about pretending discomfort doesn't exist.

‼️ Body positive is caring enough to EXPECT MORE from yourself.

👉 There's a direct line between how we feel about ourselves and the effort we're willing to put in.

➡️ But here's what most people miss:
That uncomfortable feeling? The tight pants. The mood shift. The way your body feels different?
That's not your enemy. That's nature trying to save you.

‼️ When your body composition changes, when you're packing on weight - your blood work is changing too. Your health markers are shifting.

⁉️ That discomfort?

➡️ It's your body's early warning system saying:
"Hey. Pay attention. You're drifting from healthy."

‼️ So no, I won't tell you to just accept it.

➡️ I'll tell you to listen to it. Let it guide you. And do something about it before it's too late.

How many of you just went 😲 “She’s eating from a Domino’s box?” 🙆🏼‍♀️🙅🏼‍♀️

Then how many of you would shame this… but are perfectly okay with drinking alcohol?

Hate to tell you — that doesn’t make you better.

You can call out “processed,” “high sodium,” or “seed oils,” but even “bad” food still provides energy and has a biological function the body can use.

Alcohol? Not so much. It’s a toxin the body has to prioritize metabolizing, and it can disrupt health on multiple levels.

The real: There was a time when I had an emotional reaction to any food considered “bad.” It’s called orthorexia. That wasn’t discipline. It was disordered.

When I call myself disciplined now, it’s because 90% of my life is moving my body intentionally and eating mostly whole foods with solid macro balance.

The other 10%? Enjoyment.

And it took work to not feel extreme guilt for resting or being imperfect with food.

Don’t forget: true health isn’t just how your body looks. It’s how peaceful your mind is.

Besides… I don’t want to know life without a tater tot here and there.

📌 When my surgeon told me I could not do anything for a workout for two weeks - not even walking, as it would swing my arm - I warned him I was fearful I wouldn’t be compliant.

I had no plans to go to the dermatologist. But, I wanted to be a good sport and bring my daughter.

I’ve had several biopsies on moles. Nothing new here. Until this one. Melanoma. Smack dab on my shoulder yet I never took a second glance at it.

Cancer doesn’t always throw obvious signs at you. But, there it can silently exist.

For every single one of you- This is your sign to make your dermatology appointments. Any preventative appointment. It’s really easy to put things off. But, let me remind you that early intervention is prevention.

For my girlies that LOVED skipping class and hitting the tanning beds in high school, I’m shouting your names. 😂 Turns out that whole, we’ll worry about that later is now. 🙄

MOBILITY!!!! If you don’t practice, you won’t have it. There is NO better way to stay mobile than to practice ranges under load.

Example- I had a light weight with a consistent range of motion I couldn’t cheat. (The floor). The majority of stretch and tension (the important variables you want to practice) are in my working leg. My tempo placed a “pause” at the bottom range. Then my fulcrum (hand on bench) is very lightly providing an assisted stabilization that ensures my form so I’m not getting too much torque or twist through my more for adaptation.

I will be adding more movement with mobility because strength will be limited without and there is no better way to build muscle then to keep and even improve as much range of motion as possible.

Cliché, but so true- You know what happens is you don’t use it!!!!

This morning an ate a decent size meal in my bikini. Sitting down. Wait for it- I didn’t even try to suck my stomach in. 🤣

Two 9 lbs babies, I’ve been a lotta different sizes. FAR from that made-up word “perfection.” Point is this- before this “era”, I would have had a completely different level of consciousness. The outside is not the variable of change. This is an inside job. I appreciate every milestone this body has been through. High five to the stretch marks. Fist bump to the cellulite. You know what? I’m strong. 😂 To embracing the package deal. 🥂

A healthy marriage is the most powerful supplement you could ever take for your health.

You can look at several studies to show how it boosts immunity, lowers stress, improves sleep, etc.. OR- you can live through it and realize it’s so much more.

✨Not eating too close to bed
✨Carbs at night- as in, consume them!!
✨Bio-identical HRT- progesterone/estrogen combo
✨Alcohol cessation
✨The right adaptogens/supplements- my favorite is @moonbrew
✨Huz and I just purchased some sexy blue light blocking glasses for our evenings as well.
✨Lighting- my rule: dim after dawn!
✨Ready for some TMI? No sex after 9:30 pm 🤣

You want the truth?

I give everything I have to my family and every client with personal journeys and every session I teach. I don’t always love getting on social media or just writing content to stay relevant. I write from my heart, if I’m inspired or share if I think it’s something of importance. When I’m not in that zone, it’s added stress. So? I let that shit go.

What I need to stay conscious of and what you need to hear if you are a fellow high functioning female… TAKE A BREAK instead of driving yourself insane by doing it all. Better to give up the small things instead of the non-negotiables that can impact everyone’s life. By saving you, you’re saving others.

The science- As we climb the age ladder, We are not as resilient as we once were. High chronic stress wreaks havoc on what all our effort should be at this stage of life. We want to optimize hormone communication. Fully transparency, I am as guilty of this as anyone. I am learning to applaud even the smallest efforts of taking a break.

What’s should be top of mind that would put your mind at ease by taking a break-

Breaking the cycle of high chronic stress IS supporting your metabolic health.
Can you say that you actually feel good? If you’re not metabolically healthy, you do not feel GOOD! Just a conversation. What can you let go of that will serve the greatest good?
